Here’s a question we got via our Facebook group:
Any idea why the Microsoft Teams is missing from my Windows 10 taskbar? I can’t find the icon anywhere, and it’s making it difficult to access the app quickly. How can I get Teams to appear in the taskbar again? Any ideas are appreciated..
Solve the Teams icon missing in task bar issue
There are many reasons for this issue. We will try to cover those today. In any case, the problem can be frustrating, especially if you rely on quick access to Teams for daily work or communication needs.
Here are a few several potential causes for this issue:
- Teams may be configured to not show in the taskbar by default.
- Your taskbar settings might be preventing Teams from appearing.
- An old version of Teams or a corrupted installation could cause this problem.
- General Windows problems can sometimes affect the visibility of application icons in the taskbar.
To resolve this issue, you can try several solutions:
Check if Teams is running in the background.
- Open the Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) and look for Microsoft Teams in the list of running processes. If it’s there, right-click on it and select “End task.”
- Then, relaunch Teams to see if it appears in the taskbar.
Pin Teams to the taskbar manually
- Open the Start menu, then go ahead to find Microsoft Teams, right-click on it, and select “Pin to taskbar.” This should force the icon to appear.
Check your taskbar settings
- Right-click on the Windows taskbar, select “Taskbar settings,” and ensure that “Automatically hide the taskbar in desktop mode” is turned off.
Restart your computer and Reinstall Teams
- If all the above didn’t work, proceed to restart your computer.
- Icon still not there? Reinstall Teams. Uninstall the application through the Windows Control Panel or Settings app, restart your computer, and then download and install the latest version of Teams from the official Microsoft website.
- Remember that Teams has both a desktop app and a web version. If you’re having trouble with the desktop app, you can use the web version (teams.microsoft.com) as a temporary solution while troubleshooting.
