How to convert a pptx file to pdf?

Doris sent me a quick note asking for some help in converting a .pptx file to the pdf format.

First things first: .pptx is the file extension used for Microsoft Powerpoint 2007 files. In the past, we have provided a simple tutorial for opening a pptx file with Powerpoint 2003 or earlier.

As far as converting pptx files to pdf format there are two possibilities:

1. Office 2007 users can convert pptx files to pdf within Powerpoint 2007, by using the Save as >> PDF or XPS command.

2. Office 2003 users should user a 3rd party tool as a pptx file converter. Usually i am not keen to install ad-hoc desktop applications for such tasks, and prefer to ouse online converters. From my experience Zamzar works best for pptx conversion.

I also received two questions from readers asking for a simple way to convert a pptx format to docx (Word 2007) and swf (Flash). I will try to answer that in the blog in the upcoming days (they already got answers by e-mail).
