1. AlarmTube:

You practically spend all your day watching videos on YouTube, why not wake up to your favorite YouTube video. AlarmTube lets you set an alarm and select any YouTube video as your wake-up tune.

2. YouTube Doubler:

Want to compare two videos? YouTube Doubler plays 2 videos side-by-side in the same browser window. Just specified the URLs and off you go. You can also select a starting position for each video and embed the tool on your website or blog.

3. SynchTube:

SynchTube lets you watch videos with friends even if they are far away. Invite as many people as you want to your video session but they will only see the video when you click play. When you stop the video it will stop for them as well. SynchTube also allows you to chat with your friends while watching the video.

4. YtDub:

Dub one YouTube video with audio from another YouTube video. Just provide the two URLs, set the volume, select a theme and you are all set. YtDub will create the mix for you.

5. Video-Alerts:

Don’t want to keep checking YouTube for your favorite show? Use Video-Alerts to receive automated notifications whenever a new video is uploaded to your favorite channel.

These tools can greatly enhance your video watching experience at YouTube and let you do much more than simply watching videos.

1. Color Scheme Designer

This web app is the best of the three. It ranks number one in ease-of-use. It has quite a few features compared to the other ones. Highlights include:

• Easy hexadecimal identification of all four colors so you can quickly copy and paste each color into your profile settings.
• Intuitive interface:  just move the black dot around the color-wheel to set your primary color. Color Scheme Designer will choose the other three colors for you.
• Example page:  It even creates an example page so that you can see what the colors would look like on a real webpage.

2. Color Wizard

This one is basically the same as the previous web app. Just choose your primary color, and then it’ll output a set of three other colors.

3. Color Schemer Online

This web app is the most basic of the three. It doesn’t have a color-wheel like the others. There are only two color options: Lighten scheme and darken scheme. Color Schemer offers a software version, but I won’t be covering in this post.

Use your new color scheme on Twitter, MySpace, Blogger, and WordPress

After you’ve found that great-looking new background color, it’s time to use it. Just copy and paste the hexadecimal number of your colors (For example, #FF6314 is orange) into your profile settings.

• On Twitter: Settings | Design | then at the bottom, choose ‘Change design colors’
• MySpace: Profile | Customize Profile | Appearance | Advanced Edit
• Blogger: Layout | Fonts and Colors tab
• WordPress: Either edit your CSS or use the Appearance | Theme settings.

Now you can do it online and for free. Remember the Milk can remind you by sending an email or by instant messenger. Remind your family to do all of their chores by sharing your tasks with them. Exporting your tasks into Microsoft Outlook is easy by clicking the iCalendar button. Remember the Milk produces an app for your cell phone too. Just about every cell phone platform is covered by them.

Organize your finances

Mint.com downloads and categorizes your financial transactions automatically for you. This saves you so much time. Mint points out where you are spending all of your money and your net worth. A one-time setup is required, to enter all of your bank information into Mint.This might seem scary for some, but they guarantee to keep your information safe. Intuit, the software company that makes Quicken bought the website in November of 2009, so I would trust them; 1.5 million users do. Mint.com also can help save money by comparing your current bank accounts, credit cards, brokerage, and 401(k) to the best products out there. Again, this one is free. An Iphone App is available.

Microsoft HealthVault is a new web app to manage your family’s health records. I recommend signing up for the Mayo Clinic Health Manager, as well. It’s one in a handful of web apps on Microsoft HealthVault.

The Mayo Clinic Health Manager app lets you enter all of your health information in one place. This saves you and your doctor a lot of time, because he or she is going to ask you all of these questions anyway. Be prepared for your doctor visit by bringing all of that information with you. Use the printout feature in the Mayo Clinic Health Manager. Microsoft HealthVault syncs with some medical devices like blood pressure and diabetes glucose testers. It uses the data from your devices to track your progress.

VocabSushi

VocabSushi is a young resource that will let you build your vocabulary by playing games that take into account real-world usage and which adjusts to your skill and capability as you precede. It is ideal for students studying for standardized tests like the SAT or GRE. Features include endless sentence completion questions, word list management, article reader, downloadable MP3 audio, printable quizzes and more.

WordSpy

WordSpy is a website that tracks new words and phrases as they enter the English Language.

Wordnik

Wordnik offers a blend of results aimed at users getting more than just a stale definition of a word. It has that, of course, but it also has examples of phrases containing the word, drawn from a range of sources, and put in context. An interesting feature is the Twitter integration as the dictionary does a real-time search for the word on the social networking website and brings up tweets using it. It also pulls images related to the search term from Flickr and has a helpful ‘related words’ section, which contains the usual synonyms and antonyms but also, interestingly, words related to the subject that would be used in the same context. Users will be able to add their own words on top of the 1.7 million already available and the site creators hope that this, along with the social media elements, will make the site appealing to word enthusiasts as well as regular users.

Webopedia is the no-nonsense, low-jargon online dictionary and search engine you need for computer and internet technology definitions.

Phrases.net is a community-driven resource that accumulates common phrases, casual expressions and idioms. These can be browsed through and rated as well as heard and translated to many of the most representative languages in the world today.

WordAhead

WordAhead allows you to choose from hundreds of words to review in video format. Each video uses graphics, text, and audio to describe the word, give its definition, and present the word in various contextual situations to provide a deeper understanding of the word. You can also view the videos in fullscreen which is great for displaying on the SMARTBoard. The site also has a Word List section which lists words alphabetically and provides a short definition. Students can click on the word to watch the video. It also has a Study Room where students can choose a word to watch the video review, go through a series of flash cards, or even create their own word list.

Wordia

Wordia is a first of a kind online video dictionary where you can search word definitions submitted by users as videos.

Thsrs

Thsrs is a simple online synonym finder that takes any word and find its shorter synonyms. Works simple, just type the words you need to find synonyms for into the provided field and click “Look up”. Thsrs will then come up with all available shorter synonym terms.

OneWord

OneWord is a website which allows the user to play a common writer’s prompt exercise, giving the user sixty seconds to write about one word. Its primary function being to assist in releasing one’s “internal editor.”
