How to empty your Outlook deleted items folder automatically ?

From time to time you might want to save some space over at your Outlook mailbox by emptying your deleted items folder. If you are running Outlook 2003 and 2007, this can be easily automated, by following this procedure:

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Click Tools, then choose Options
  3. Go to the Other tab
  4. Mark the Empty the Deleted Items folder upon exiting check box.
  5. From now on, before closing Outlook, you’ll be prompted to empty your deleted Items folder.

How to recover deleted items in Outlook ?

One of Microsoft Outlook’s hidden features is the ability to recover deleted items, even after you have deleted them from your Deleted Items folder. This feature is not enabled from out-of-the-box, and its activation requires the implementation of a registry tweak using the Registry Editor (regedit).
