How to remove Facebook apps from your profile?

Here’s a question from one of our readers:

I’ve authorized a lot of applications since I started using Facebook and to be frank, I’ve stopped using a lot of them. Is there any way to revoke access to my profile by those apps/simply remove them?

Thanks for the question. It’s nice to see users being conscious about the apps they authorize on Facebook. It’s advisable to remove applications that are connected to your account once in a while. Although unlikely, one of the apps you have authorized might just start misusing their permissions and this could be a big problem. Here’s how you can remove apps from your Facebook profile:

  • Login to your Facebook account.

Privacy Settings - Facebook

  • Click on ‘Accounts’ at the top right of the screen and choose ‘Privacy Settings’.

Apps and Websites

  • In the Privacy Settings page, you should be able to find out the ‘Apps and Websites’ category. Click on ‘Edit your settings’ below it.

Edit Settings Apps

  • In the screen that comes now, choose ‘Edit Settings’ opposite to ‘Apps you use’. You can now remove all the unwanted or spammy apps. Consider removing the apps that you don’t use anymore.

Some native Facebook apps like Facebook Questions can’t be disable. Find out how to stay away from them by reading this blog post.

Good luck!
