How to delete a Hotmail account?

Few of  our readers have asked for a simple procedure for deleting their (usually) old Hotmail accounts, as they have fully migrated to Gmail. The procedure is actually quite simple, but before taking a decision about your account’s termination, we recommend that you understand the consequences of deleting a Hotmail account.

Your Hotmail account login also happens to be your Windows Live ID. To proceed with closing your Windows Live ID, go the Close Account page on the Windows Live website. Sign in, if you haven’t already, and then scroll to the bottom of the page where you’ve to enter your password and click the Yes button.

Important tips:

• If you have associated your Windows Live ID with any other website or service, you will naturally be unable to access those after your account is closed. Hence, it’s always a good idea to detach your Windows Live ID from all other services before proceeding onto closing your account.
• If you are using any of the Windows Live services such as Photos, Spaces, Skydrive etc’, you should take a backup of all the data you stored with those services before your account deletion (otherwise – it will be simply gone).
