Jimmy asked us question on recovering AIM passwords:
I have forgotten my password of AIM and I would like to recover it. I do not want to reset the password because I want to remember my old password for my personal reasons. What should I do?
I understand your problem and there is a way to recover your password from Windows registry but it has its own drawbacks.
- You must be using AIM Messenger 4.8 or previous versions for this process to work
- Versions higher than 4.8 use the registry to store the password but it is stored in a hashed form.
- Visit the AIM Password Recovery Toolkit page and download the application
- Follow the instructions and you will be able to recover your password from the Windows Registry
Unfortunately, if you had forgotten your password, there is no way to recover your password without reset. So, if you are not using AIM 4.8 or previous versions, you cannot recover your password and you can only reset it from the AIM website, by answering a question or getting an email from AOL.
