Converting a pptx file to docx

The other day i received a note from Dave asking about a simple workaround for converting a Powerpoint 2007 document with .pptx extension to a Word 2007 extension file (docx format).

If you are looking to create a set of handouts using Microsoft Word, you should be aware that Powerpoint 2007 includes a built-in function that allows you to export Powerpoint slides and create handouts in Word (see screenshot below).

Note that you will be able to customize the look of your handouts (setting the position of the notes relative to the slides and so forth).

If you are looking to use Powerpoint slides in a docx format document, i would recommend that you switch to the slide sorter view in Powerpoint 2007 and then select all slides you want to copy to Word. Then on Word 2007, paste special your slides as Bitmap Images. After that. go ahead and manually arrange the slides as you see fit in Microsoft Word.
