Is it wise to delete your MSN email account ?
If you happen to be thinking how to delete your MSN Hotmail (now Live) account, you better be aware of two facts:
1) If you cancel your MSN account, someone can later on claim that email address, and potentially receive emails which were meant to be sent to you, and in worst cases, steal your online identity.
2) Your MSN account is in most cases your Microsoft passport, which you use in order to access not only Hotmail or Live Mail, but all other Microsoft web sites that require authentication.
Therefore, in case you want to get rid from your Hotmail, my suggestion is not to delete your MSN account, but just to stop using it. After 90 days of not being used, your account will turn to be inactive, however you’ll retain the account ownership, and thus prevent your account from being hijacked by others and your online identity and good reputation jeopardized.
